Clinton is a relatively smaller city in New Zealand’s South Otago. Lying on State Highway – 1, about mid way between Gore and Balclutha, the city is named after Henry Pelham-Clinton, the former British Secretary of State for the Colonies and 5th Duke of Newcastle. The State Highway – 1 stretch that lies between Gore and Clinton, is known as ‘The Presidential Highway’, named after Al Gore and Bill Clinton.
